REPLACEMENTS

From 07 October, 2024, students are obliged to find a replacement for themselves - a full-time student of a public university in Slovakia who is not currently accommodated at the CU Družba when withdrawing from the accommodation contract.

  • The accommodated student and the substitute must come together to the accommodation department.
  • The accommodated person must have a checked room and a confirmed check-out slip.
  • The substitute, if he is a student of a university other than Comenius Uuniversity, must present a confirmation of attendance not older than 14 days at the time of check-in.
  • The substitute will pay a deposit and the accommodation fee by bank transfer upon arrival at the accommodation.

The above obligation to reimburse follows from Article VI(4) of the accommodation contract: "The accommodation holder is entitled to withdraw from this contract before the expiry of the agreed period of accommodation, but is only obliged to reimburse the accommodation provider for the damage caused by the early cancellation of the accommodation if the accommodation provider could not have prevented the damage".

The student does not seek compensation only if he or she is a graduating student and has finished his or her university studies. In that case, he/she may check out of his/her accommodation after the state examination/defence without any obligation to seek compensation. If he/she wishes to remain housed until the end of the contract, he/she should contact the Accommodation Office.

*Please note that the misuse of social support services according to the Higher Education Act is an illegal act with serious consequences. If someone is proven to demand compensation for the release of a bed, in addition to the immediate termination of the contract, they may also face disciplinary proceedings, expulsion from studies, or criminal prosecution.
